Contactless payment tech in all phones next yearWhile speaking at a recent company event in Stockholm, Håkan Djuphammar, Ericsson's VP of systems architecture, said: “A year from now, basically every new phone that's sold will have [Near Field Communication]”. Djuphammar also hinted that NFC technology will be built directly onto the Sim card – a method that some phone firms, including Nokia, and network operators have already begun exploring. BlackBerry Tour 9630So sorry, Bell, it looks like Telus is already preparing to rain on your parade. Just as the BlackBerry Tour 9630 will launch on multiple carriers here in the US, so too will it see several homes up north in Canada. Check out the pics. Sony Ericsson Xperia X2A regular poster over at Mobile-review forums has leaked what he/she claims are the specifications for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2. The black and silver slider is rumored to have: * 8.1mpx auto focus, VGA @ 30fps (MP4 HQ) HTC Cedar portrait-style WinMo smartphone for CDMA hits FCCLook out, Palm -- you've got what's apt to be a formidable opponent creeping right up on your next big thing. A frustratingly vague FCC filing has just appeared, which details (if you can even call it that) an elusive new HTC CEDA200 smartphone that's apparently portrait-styled, Windows Mobile-powered and ready to rock on a (gasp!) CDMA network. LG Arena with US HSPA bands approved by the FCCHaving seen pre-orders in excess of one million units, the LG Arena KM900 clearly struck an emotional chord with mobile crazed customers in the Asian and European markets. Its lack of support for North American HSPA bands made many on this side of the Atlantic rather green with envy however, and they assumed they would not be able to get their hands on the first device to take advantage of the new S-Class 3D interface. BlackBerry 9900 "Pluto" spottedWhat's this little gem? According to a confidential / potentially dubious Rogers document landed by CrackBerry, it might be the BlackBerry 9900 -- or Pluto for you codename-loving types. Interestingly enough, this devices happens to look just like a Storm / Bold / 8900 Franken-Berry that we first caught wind of in October, packing a full QWERTY and a SurePress touchscreen like the one found in the Storm. We can't say for sure this is anything more than a clever Photoshop -- and that little "see page 99" bit on the bottom seems a bit too convenient of a number for our tastes. Deal of the Day: T-Mobile G1 Google Android Phone for $97.99 ShippedAmazon is offering the T-Mobile G1 at just $97.99 shipped with service plan, originally priced at $399.99. This Smartphone "comes equipped with a convenient trackball for more precise, one-handed navigation." Product page. Nokia introducing 5030, 5330, and 5730 XpressMusics at tomorrow's event? We know that the shindig Nokia's putting on tomorrow has something to do with music, so it's certainly within the realm of possibility that we'd see some new XpressMusic handsets there, and indeed, All About Phones seems to have scooped the goods. It looks like we'll be treated to no fewer than three models -- all Xpress-branded, naturally -- starting on the low end with the 5030 candybar. Alltel launches $40 wireless broadband planAlltel has reportedly launched a new $40 wireless broadband add-on option, a $20 drop from the regular $60 per month price tag. Customers must subscribe to a Smart Choice voice plan to be eligible for this $40 wireless broadband add-on, but it’s still not too shabby for a truly unlimited (read: no usage cap) EV-DO mobile broadband connection. Samsung A877 spied, headed to AT&T?Call this one unconfirmed at best, but word on the street puts a new Samsung QWERTY slider on AT&T shelves at the end of this month. Now, don’t get too excited as this puppy isn’t exactly the handset to end all handsets, but it is one of the best looking QWERTY feature phones we’ve seen heading to AT&T so consider our interest piqued.
